Local Film Premieres March 25th
Locally-shot From A Place of Darkness, is set for its Tucson premiere. The horror/thriller starring John Savage, Bronson Pinchot, Travis Schuldt and Natalie Zea, will hit The Loft on Tuesday, March 25th at 7:00 p.m.
Douglas A. Raine, who co-wrote, directed and produced the film, has over 25 years experience in the industry. His film credits include Broken Arrow, Starman, Sommersby and The Ghost and the Darkness - to name just a few. Raine is scheduled to be at the premiere.
Miles Kody (Travis Schuldt, Scrubs), is a documentary filmmaker. Living off a long ago success he’s now searching for his “second” break. He finds that in the seedy world of snuff films. He interviews Vic (John Savage, The Deer Hunter), a seasoned pro with a menacing, mysterious dark side. Miles becomes obsessed with the subject matter and his subject. Miles’ primary investor, Carl (Bronson Pinchot, Beverly Hill Cop) is also very interested, more in the hypnotic allure of the movies and potential for profit. As Miles tapes his interviews with Vic he becomes aware of the appearance of “ghosts” captured on his video monitor. He realizes that the faint energy fields of these ghosts, past victims of the snuff films, are picked up more readily on video. As the ghosts become more powerful they become more visible to the naked eye. To his horror, Miles soon realizes that Vic is in league with the Devil, and that the mysterious “King of Snuff Films” is delivering the souls of his victims to attain more power.
Filmed in Tucson at the former Sanjin Trading warehouse on Sixth Avenue during the fall of 2006, this fright-packed supernatural thriller was written by Tucson writer Scott Kenyon Barker, and co-written, produced and directed by Tucsonan Douglas A.
